The Project Management Institute (PMI) Finland Chapter is proud to announce the opening of nominations for the Project Manager of the Year 2024 award. This esteemed recognition is dedicated to honoring outstanding project managers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and the ability to drive successful project outcomes.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Conference Participation: Candidates may or may not be members of the Project Management Institute (PMI), but they are encouraged to participate in the PMI Finland Chapter Annual Conference 2024.
  • Project Manager Eligibility: This award is open to currently employed program or project directors and project managers with substantial experience in the field. Nominations can be submitted by oneself or by a colleague.
  • Referenced Project Eligibility: The referenced project must be located in Finland and have been completed after October 1st, 2023, or be expected to complete by September 30th, 2024. The project should represent significant work in its business sector with a notable budget.

Selection Process: A distinguished jury will evaluate candidates based on their project performance, leadership, and management skills. The award will be presented at the PMI Finland Chapter Annual Conference 2024.

Requirements for Project of the Year 2024

  • Conference Participation and PMI Membership
    • PMI Membership: Nominees should be members of the Project Management Institute (PMI). Please provide your PMI Member Number if applicable.
    • Conference Participation: While not mandatory, participation in the PMI Finland Chapter Annual Conference 2024 is highly encouraged.
  • Project Manager Eligibility
    • Self-Nomination: Indicate whether the submission is a self-nomination or made by a colleague.
    • Candidate Information: Provide the first and last name of the Project Manager being nominated.
    • PMI Certifications: List the PMI certifications held by the candidate.
    • Current Employment: The candidate must be currently employed as a program or project director/manager to be eligible.
    • Experience: Detail the number of years the Project Manager has been in the field, must be over 2 years.
  • Referenced Project Eligibility
    • Project Name: Specify the name of the project associated with the nomination.
    • Project Location: The project must be located in Finland.
    • Project Timeline: The project should have been completed after October 1st, 2023, or be expected to complete by September 30th, 2024.
    • Project Budget: Indicate the budget of the project in euros.
    • Business Sector: Identify the business sector in which the project was executed.
  • Performance Evaluation of the Project Manager
    • Work Environment and Results: Describe how the Project Manager fostered a productive work environment and drove the project to successful completion.
    • Diversity Management: Explain how the Project Manager effectively managed diverse viewpoints, backgrounds, and personalities within the team.
    • Goal Focus and Optimization: Illustrate how the Project Manager maintained focus on achieving project goals while optimizing team performance.
    • Technical and Management Balance: Discuss how the Project Manager balanced their technical expertise with management skills.
    • Additional Information: Use the free-form field to provide any other relevant details that highlight the Project Manager’s qualifications and achievements.

Voting Process

The selection of the Project Manager of the Year 2024 will involve both expert evaluation and community participation, ensuring a well-rounded and fair selection process.

  • Jury Selection: A panel of experienced professionals will carefully review all nominations, evaluating them based on the established criteria. The jury will shortlist the 5 candidates who demonstrated exceptional project management skills and achievements.
  • Community Voting: Once the 5 candidates have been identified by the jury, a voting process will be conducted in advance of the PMI Finland Chapter Annual Conference 2024. All registered conference participants will have the opportunity to cast their votes for the Project Manager they believe deserves the title.
  • Announcement of Results: The voting results will be kept confidential until the conference. The winner of the Project Manager of the Year 2024 award will be announced during the conference, creating an exciting and celebratory atmosphere as the community comes together to recognize outstanding leadership in project management.
