About PMI
Project Management Institute (PMI) is the leading professional association for project management, and the authority for a growing global community of millions of project professionals and individuals who use project management skills. Collectively, these professionals and “changemakers” consistently create better outcomes for businesses, community and society worldwide.
As part of the PMI family, ProjectManagement.com creates online global communities that deliver more resources, better tools, larger networks and broader perspectives.
PMI in Finland
In Finland, PMI has been operating since 2005 and the business is entirely run by volunteers.
We are mostly operating in a hybrid / online mode and have physical events as well. The events are executed by local volunteers that organize locally adapted activities and offer local networks.
We are a non-profit association and the members elect a board at the annual meeting. The board consists of volunteers who come from different parts of Finland.
Our Vision
To achieve optimal and sustainable change in our society by organizations embracing and appreciating projects as a form of work.
By this we mean that PMI in Finland should be a driving force in providing society with this sustainable power of change.
This requires that we continue to develop the group of project managers who are the foundation of our business. It also requires that we continue to broaden the business by reaching out to more people telling us how project work can be used to translate strategies into implemented change in the most appropriate way.
Our Mission
To create the conditions for successful and sustainable projects and establish project management as a profession.
This means that we must equip everyone who works with projects to have the right skills and insights to perform their work well. Project managers are the foundation of our business and we work to strengthen and establish project management as a profession. In order to carry out our mission, we are constantly spreading our message in different contexts, arranging seminars for competence development, offering networking in various forms, and arranging Passion for Projects – Scandinavia’s largest meeting place for everyone who works with projects.
We also teach project management for social projects aimed at students at universities and for young people, 13-19 years, by profiling project management as a competence “for life”.
